2029 4 star Naomi Nui faces off against 2027 Ole Miss commit Maria Herron. Midway volleyball continued its strong run Tuesday night with a straight-set road victory over Salado, sweeping the Eagles 3-0. The opening set was the closest of the match, with Midway pulling out a hard-fought 27-25 win before taking control with identical 25-21 victories in the final two sets. Salado kept each set competitive, but Midway consistently came through in the key moments to complete the sweep and improve to 17-6 on the season. The game features extremely high profile players from both teams including 5 star seter Charli Nui, her younger sister 2029 4 star (uncommitted) Outside/Middle Naomi Niu and Rice outside hitter commit Mazzy Johnson from Salado. 5 stars LSU commit Naomi Livings for Prestonwood and 5 star Texas A&M commit Maya Ogbogu for Allen. Allen captured the 2026 Allen Texas Open championship on Saturday, August 22, defeating Prestonwood Christian in straight sets 25-22, 25-19. Prestonwood Christian made the championship competitive, particularly in the opening set, but Allen was able to close both sets and defend its home court. Midway four star running back Lathan Whisenton faces off against Rouse QB Chase Whitten. Game Highlights: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xQDA9Lfa040 Waco Midway opened its 2026 season with a strong defensive performance, shutting out Leander Rouse 19-0 on August 27 at UMHB's Crusader Stadium. The Panthers struck first with a touchdown from four star Notre Dame running back commit Lathan Whisenton in the first quarter and continued to build their lead with points in every quarter. Adding a TD in the third quarter was 2027 WR Hayden Brock taking a slant to the house from midway quarterback William Cort Strickland IV. Midway's defense was the story of the night, holding the Raiders scoreless and limiting Rouse quarterback C. Whitten to 67 passing yards. Rouse found some success on the ground, including 95 rushing yards from A. Dickson, but could not turn its drives into points. The Panthers (1-0) will now face off against Aledo (0-1) losing to North Crowley in week 1. The Rouse Raiders now 0-1, will head to Georgetown for a week 2 matchup on Friday.

The panthers move to 2-0 on the season while the Dragons fall to 1-1. North Crowley struck first with a TD from junior receiver Kade Smith taking a slant pass 63 yards to the house from senior QB Jacob Torres. Southlake Carroll answered back when quarterback Hudson Tomcheck connected with tight end Easton Nied on a 32-yard touchdown pass. North Crowley led 13-7 after the 1st quarter and led 27-7 by halftime. SR running back G'yrell Smith stiff arms Carroll defender on his way into the endzone. STARS OF THE NIGHT Senior running back G'yrell Smith a North Texas commit was the star of the night rushing for 96 yards on 11 carries and finding the endzone four times on the night. North Crowley's defense was dominate from start to finish, the panthers forced five turnovers throughout four quarters while the offense racked up 426 total yards. 2029 cornerback Braylen Cunningham ended the night with 2 interceptions for the panthers. The sophomore showed poise against Carrolls loaded receiving core, Cunningham will likely see targets his way go up this season by lining up opposite of four star corner Jerry Outhouse who guards the other teams WR1. 2029 Corner Braylen Cunningham returns an interception against the Carroll defense. The dragons moved the ball on the panthers defense but failed to find the endzone multiple times. The Dragons totaled 342 total yards, including 257 passing yards, with junior QB Tomcheck completing 10 of 21 passes for 175 yards, one touchdown. Carroll added a 45-yard field goal from William Wallace in the fourth quarter, but the Panthers closed out the game with a 40-10 victory. The win gave North Crowley back-to-back victories over Aledo and Southlake Carroll who are national football powerhouses to begin the season, while Carroll will look to rebound against #1 Allen at home next week. 4 star Whitney QB Kobe Haynes faces off against SR Jacobe Scott. Cameron Yoe pulled off one of the most dramatic comebacks of the young 2026 season Thursday night, rallying past No. 9 Whitney, 62-61, at Waco ISD Stadium. The Yoemen found themselves in a deep hole against a Whitney offense that had controlled much of the game, trailing by 22 points during the fourth quarter. Despite the deficit, Cameron Yoe continued to attack and gradually chipped away at the Wildcats’ advantage before taking control late. Quarterback Kourtlyn Townsend was at the center of the Yoemen’s offensive explosion. In his first ever varsity start Townsend delivered a historic performance through the air, finishing with 625 passing yards and seven touchdown passes. Jacobe Scott also played a major role in the comeback, producing 160 receiving yards and two touchdowns as Cameron Yoe repeatedly found ways to move the ball down the field. The Yoemen’s offensive production ultimately turned what looked like a comfortable Whitney victory into a one-point thriller. Kobe Haynes a 4 star athlete committed to TCU was also a standout player accounting for 275 yards, and six TD's on the ground breaking his own single game rushing TD record for Whitney HS. He also completed 19 of 33 passes for 264 yards though the air and 2 TD's. Haynes totaled 8 TD's on the night. Whitney entered the matchup ranked ninth and appeared poised to move to 2-0 after building a significant lead, but Cameron Yoe’s fourth-quarter surge changed the outcome. The Wildcats were unable to stop the Yoemen’s late push, leaving Whitney with a narrow 61-62 loss and a 1-1 record. Cameron Yoe, meanwhile, improved to 2-0 and will return home next week to face Salado, while Whitney will look to rebound against Hillsboro. 4 star Allen QB Ty Snell faced off against Duncanville QB Maximus The Great Denson. In an electrifying game of the week featuring the #2 ranked Allen Eagles faced off at home in front of a packed home crowd against the #1 ranked Duncanville Panthers. Billed as a high-stakes rematch of last December's state semifinal, the contest quickly turned into a defensive masterclass dominated by the Eagles' relentless pass rush, which racked up an astonishing eight sacks. Offensively, Allen was powered by standout sophomore quarterback Ty Snell, who completed 15 of 23 passes for 160 yards and fired touchdown strikes to Cylas Siciliano and three star Zach Williams. Senior running back Lyndon Spriggs anchored the ground game with a pair of red-zone touchdowns. Duncanville's high-powered offense struggled to find any rhythm against the stifling Allen defense, with their lone highlight coming in the second quarter on a spectacular 53-yard touchdown pass from Maximus The Great Denson to Purdue commit Trenton Yancey. The blowout victory launched Allen to a 1-0 start. The Eagles still have a tough non district schedule coming up with a week 2 at home matchup against Desoto and a week 3 matchup on the road at Southlake Carroll.
