#12 Waco Midway vs Cedar Park 2026

Two of Central Texas top 6A football teams faced off Friday night in a high scoring matchup. #12 ranked Waco Midway faced off against Cedar Park with Cedar Park ultimately coming out on top 39-34, the Timberwolves established themselves offensively early and ultimately had enough production to withstand a determined Midway comeback.
Quarterback David Cooper was efficient through the air, completing 17 of 23 passes for 214 yards and two touchdowns without an interception. Cedar Park also got a tremendous performance from running back Lucas Viloria, who carried 30 times for 178 yards and a touchdown, while receiver Brayden Jahns gave the passing game a major boost with 10 catches for 142 yards and a touchdown.

Midway, though, showed plenty of fight and made the game a one-score battle late. After opening the season with an impressive road victory over Aledo, the Panthers faced another tough test of their young season and continued to lean on the explosive playmaking that has carried them through the first two weeks. Notre Dame four star running back commit Lathan Whisenton was again a major part of the Midway offense, following his 160-yard, two-touchdown performance against Aledo with another impactful night on the ground Whisenton had 19 carries for 140 yards and 2 touchdowns against Cedar Park. Midway's ability to rally after Cedar Park built its advantage made the fourth quarter especially competitive and kept the Panthers within striking distance until the closing moments.

Cedar Park ultimately made the plays necessary to finish the job and improved to 3-0, while Midway dropped to 2-1 despite another strong overall showing. The Timberwolves' balance was a major difference-maker, combining Cooper's passing with Viloria's powerful rushing performance and Jahns' consistency as a target. Midway, meanwhile, demonstrated that its 2-0 start was no fluke by battling one of the state's better teams down to the wire after already knocking off Aledo the previous week. With both programs showing offensive firepower and plenty of resilience, the 39-34 final felt less like a one-sided result and more like a statement game for two teams that should remain factors throughout the 2026 season.
