4 star SaRod Baker faces off against 4 star Brendyn Jackson.

DeSoto opened district play with an impressive offensive performance Friday night, defeating Midlothian 52-6 at Eagle Stadium. The Fighting Eagles built momentum throughout the first half, scoring 39 points before halftime and adding two more touchdowns in the fourth quarter to secure the victory. Midlothian got on the scoreboard in the opening quarter and continued competing throughout the night, but DeSoto's defense and explosive offense made it difficult for the Panthers to sustain drives.

SaRod Baker led the way for DeSoto with a standout all-around performance. The senior running back rushed for 212 yards and four touchdowns on 23 carries while also completing 6 of 11 passes for 77 yards. Baker's production helped DeSoto control the game on the ground and consistently create scoring opportunities. Wide receiver M. McChristion also contributed through the air, finishing with three receptions for 48 yards, while DeSoto's defense received recognition for its strong performance, with Aaden Minor among the team's defensive players of the game.

An elite player matchup was 3 star Desoto Corner Dhillon Mcghee vs 4 star Midlothian receiver Brendyn Jackson who went back and forth all night competing against each other.

Midlothian entered the matchup having shown offensive balance earlier in the season, led by receiver Brendyn Jackson and running back Dexter Wright. Jackson had entered the game with 491 receiving yards and five total touchdowns, while Wright had averaged 97.3 rushing yards per game through the Panthers' first four contests. Despite being held to six points against DeSoto, Midlothian continued to battle through a difficult district matchup and will have an opportunity to regroup during the open week before returning to action against Cleburne on Oct. 9. DeSoto, meanwhile, improved to 3-2 and will visit Lancaster on Oct. 9.
